TELL ME MORE ABOUT

*** GOO GOO MUCK ***

The process of conceiving this event involved me asking the younger students if they would rather go to a Disco, a Dance Party or a Rave. It was a unanimous ‘Rave’. The idea elicited a sense of excitement amongst them, which is good to see.

Our circus venue will be transformed with age appropriate décor including backdrops, witches, skeletons, bats, games, pumpkin bean bags and party lights.

Our troupe students are creating themed aerial performances for the event, which will pop up around the room, with a performance of ‘Glitch Witch’ by Stah to close the evening.

Point Dynamic Arts senior students will hold court on the dance floor, as the Goo Goo Dancers. They will inspire with moves and grooves and keep the dance floor engaged and fun.

The Bettlejuice Candy Bar is serving Pop Corn, Fairy Floss, Snow Cones and drinking water on tap.

Side Show Alley will be some low fi games that we used to play long before the advent of the internet and the ubiquitous smart phone. Think ‘Pin the Tail on the Donkey’ but ‘Stick the Eye on the Zombie’.

DJ Killa Gee is my husband Graham who is a musical stalwart and will be playing spooky season classics from across the decades. Graham also designed the flyer, the Halloween pumpkin beanbags for the chill out and did in fact have a free party sound system in the UK during the 80’s & 90’s called ‘The Sugarlump’.

The last rave type event Graham and I went to was called ‘Electronic: From Kraftwerk to The Chemical Brothers’, an interactive exhibition at The Design Museum, London, 2020. When your youth culture is in a museum, you know it is worth sharing.

This event is created by Zero Central Circus in their venue at
11 Lyell St, Mittagong.

Volunteer staff are all parents of students and have Working with Children Checks.

Parents are welcome at the event with a ticket and a nod to a costume, though you can also drop and go.

Parents picking up children are invited to come inside to watch the ‘Glitch Witch’ Performance at 6:45.

Tickets are $45 inclusive of fees and snacks.

NATIONAL CIRCUS FESTIVAL & TRAINING PROGRAM

I am delighted to announce that I have received funding from the Australian Government via Regional Arts NSW to contribute towards the costs of attending the National Circus Festival and Training Program this coming October.

I will spend 5 days participating in workshops to learn new skills to bring back to my students and then attending the 3 days of the festival to see shows and network with the Australian Circus Community with a view to programming performances in our venue in the Southern Highlands.

And you never know, I might even manage to get myself a gig here or there, as I am still active as a performing circus artist at Age 50.

LEARN TO INVERT + BALANCE + CLIMB + SPIN + TWIZZLE

AERIAL SILKS

Aerial Silks is performed on slightly stretchy fabric. Students learn to climb the silks in a variety of styles, wrap into shapes that hold them in the air, and as their strength and skills improve, they learn spectacular rolls and drops.

AERIAL HOOP

Aerial Hoops are made of rolled steel. They provide a rigid structure from which to invert, balance, spin and twizzle. This apparatus requires less strength for beginners to bust some cool shapes, with more of a flow style achievable as you progress.

AERIAL YOGA

Aerial Yoga comes in many styles and is taught on a fabric hammock. Inversions allow you to work with gravity to find space in the joints, while performing the asanas with one foot in the air engages the core as you stabilise to balance.
